Job Title: Waterfront Coordinator
Type: Seasonal / Full-Time
Reports To: Director of Gospel Hill Camp and Assistant Director of
Gospel Hill Camp
Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities is a
Christian ministry dedicated to serving the homeless, poor, and addicted in
our community. By meeting physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational

SUMMARY:
Gospel Hill Camp is an established day/resident camp situated on Snail Lake
in Shoreview, Minnesota. With minimal supervision a waterfront coordinator
is responsible for maintaining a safe, fun and educational environment in
all water related activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise, guard and provide surveillance
during aquatic activities to help prevent and to manage injuries.

Provide patience, compassion, great
listening and communication skills, Christian spirit and the ability to
relate to children.

Acquaint campers with the waterfront
rules and guidelines.

Provide swimming instructions to campers
at all levels of proficiency in the water.

Maintain a safe beachfront including the
swim area, fishing dock, and boating areas.

Maintain all waterfront equipment:
life-saving equipment, canoes, and paddles.

Train staff and volunteers regarding
water activity responsibilities.

Enforce all rules pertaining to
waterfront activities for maximum safety, problem areas should be brought to
Director immediately.

Be available as the lifeguard for any
waterfront activities.

Maintain a clean and organized boathouse
and changing rooms.

After each swim time check changing
rooms, hanging up towels and suits.

At the end of the week collect everything
from the changing rooms and bring to the Ministry Center lost & found area.

When needed serve as a camp counselor,
assisting in job rotations.

Must enjoy working as part of a team to
accomplish overall program goals.

Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate plus a minimum of one year additional education.
Previous experience working at a camp is desirable but not required. Current
American Red Cross certifications for Lifeguard, swim instructor and CPR
required. Prior experience as lifeguard/swim instructor preferred.

constituencies in a diverse community.

Able to attend pre-camp orientation and
successfully complete all required Staff Training Sessions.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL
EFFORT:

Work is normally performed in a flexible
environment, requiring the incumbent work both inside and outside.

Must be able to lift and carry 20-30 lbs.

Moderate exposure to physical risk.
