Hope begins with a meal...

Over 400,000 meals are given away each year at the Union Gospel Mission!

Much more than a hand out, a warm meal often opens the door for the Mission to step in and lend a helping hand on the road to recovery. Three kitchens, (two that operate 365 days a year) and an army of volunteers during the holidays, prepare a lot of food, but more than that–they cook up hope. Food fills the stomach–hope fills the heart! That's why the Mission has been giving away food since its inception.

Here's a partial list of what we provide every year:

• 12,054 hot meals and bagged lunches are prepared and served each month at our Men's Center
• 2,758 meals are prepared and served monthly to women and children at our Naomi Family Residence
• 1,000 meals are hand-delivered to Saint Paul senior high-rises for Thanksgiving and another 1,050 are delivered for Christmas
• 1,500 holiday meals are served to the public on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas
• 2,807 meals and snacks are prepared each month for our Child Care Center
• 24,000 meals are given to local church and community food shelves
• Over 20,000 complete take-home Thanksgiving meals are given to families in need
