Dr. Morgan Completing Work June 30 at Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities

 June 26, 2020

Dear Friends of Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities,

Dr. Charles Morgan, who has served as CEO for the Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (the Mission) for nearly six years, has decided to complete his work with the Mission on June 30, 2020.

At the start of the year the board moved ahead with its vision and growth strategies, entering into operational discussions with Dr. Morgan. At that time, he decided to complete his work with the Mission expressing his desire “to pursue my passion around broader community interests. My heart is to lend my education, experience and gifts to elevating and improving the broader community I’ve come to love.” Given the demands of COVID-19 Dr. Morgan graciously agreed to extend his departure date to help the Mission work through the pandemic.

Under Dr. Morgan’s leadership, the Mission laid the foundation and trajectory for future success. He helped narrow the Mission’s focus around its core mission and competencies. He established the mental health program and clinic, hiring the Mission’s first psychologist. He expanded and integrated the organization’s chaplaincy into existing programs, and extended the Mission’s community partnerships throughout the Twin Cities.

The board is grateful to Dr. Morgan for the many gifts he has shared with this organization and his years of service. As he leaves, the organization is in excellent condition. An interim CEO, Pam Axberg, will serve until a new CEO is retained.

With heartfelt thanks and gratitude we wish Dr. Morgan all the best in his new endeavors.
