“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8
We love blessing others! And what better time than this season as we contemplate the incredible gift that was the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ?
If you, or someone you love, is in need this Christmas Day, please know an invitation for a hot and hearty traditional meal awaits at Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities. On Christmas Day from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. volunteers will seat our guests around linen-adorned tables in the Chapel. The twinkling lights of the Christmas tree in the corner will reflect off the glass in the festive centerpieces. Christmas music drifting from the speakers will lift everyone’s spirits as they enjoy a traditional dinner and an extra slice of pie.
Just for an hour or so, we pray that our guests will feel that sense of family again. Maybe that experience of being together over turkey and cranberry sauce will start them thinking about what they can do to re-reconnect with loved ones and rebuild their lives.
One quick conversation over that Christmas meal with a staff member just might point them toward one of our full-time residential programs that can help them address the multifaceted reasons behind their homelessness.
Our wonderful volunteers will also deliver Christmas Day meals to residents of 20 local low-income hi-rise apartment buildings.
Join us as we continue loving one another as Jesus taught us. Please consider giving your most generous gift this Christmas. Your gift will show a brother or sister that someone cares. It could also make the difference of moving that person from the streets to holiday peace and, ultimately, to NEW LIFE!
