For Donald, life before the Mission was hopeless. His attention was on staying high. “Had I continued on the road I was on, there was nowhere to go but death,” he says.

“I wasn’t going to be alone. And that was good enough for me.”

But all that changed when he came to Union Gospel Mission.

“All the classes, Bible studies and devotions were about truth,” says Donald. “And I remember saying, ‘Lord, if I tell the truth, I might go to prison…I knew at that moment I was going to tell the truth, I was going to go to prison. But I wasn’t going to be alone. And that was good enough for me.”
