Child Development Center

If you’re looking for quality early childhood education in the Greater St. Paul Area, our Child Development Center offers a loving, nurturing environment for your child to grow.

Many parents living and working in the Greater St Paul Area have difficulty finding a safe, consistent place for their small child to stay during working hours.

That’s why the Child Development Center at Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities has opened its doors to families in the community. Your children ages six weeks to Kindergarten will enjoy a comprehensive early education curriculum, so they can flourish and you can have peace of mind.

What to Expect

Here, you can have the assurance that your children will always be supervised in a safe, age-appropriate setting filled with toys that encourage active play. But your children will enjoy so much more than a play space; they will also gain the skills to thrive in Kindergarten and beyond.

You can expect that your child will gain skills in:

  • Christian faith development
  • Gross and fine motor skills
  • Literacy and art
  • Mathematics, science, and technology
  • Social/emotional language literacy

Most of the students in the Center meet or exceed standards for early Kindergarten readiness, such as standards in social-emotional, physical, and literacy.

Beyond Education

Your children will enjoy added features that will enhance their experiences and reassure you that your children will have the best care possible, such as:

Clinical services. Child therapy opportunities assist children having difficulties to navigate their emotions and behaviors.

Experienced teachers. All of our teachers have met the guidelines for teacher certification with the Department of Human Services. Also, our educators have served many years at the CDC. Your children will get to know their teachers, and our teachers will get to know your children.

Intergenerational volunteers. Your children will connect with volunteers of all ages who will provide extra love, attention, and affection throughout each day.

Best Practices in Teaching and Learning

The CDC has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. This means that the curricula, assessments, experiences, safety and health of children, and staff instruction follow Kindergarten readiness best practices from infancy through preschool. Everything your child experiences will be according to the regulations of both the Department of Human Services and NAEYC.

The CDC also partners with the St. Paul Public Schools Office of Early Learning. A district partnership coordinator coaches our teachers, including best practices in lesson planning, family communication, Kindergarten transition, and more.
