Tony Had Nothing to Celebrate–Until You Stepped In

See that smile on Tony’s face? You put it there.

Years ago, Tony had a fulfilling job and beautiful family. But when he started using drugs, everything changed. His family watched his complexion turn gray and his eyes yellow.

“Just stop,” his wife encouraged him.

Tony knew his choices were killing him. Eventually—

“I lost everything,” he says. “My loved ones, my house. Addiction got a hold of me so strongly that I didn’t care if it was a job interview, a family outing, or my work. I told God to get away from my life.”

And holidays were the worst. “My mom begged me to come sober to a holiday dinner just once,” he remembers. “I’d show up sometimes, but I wasn’t there mentally.”

“I’m excited to see what He has planned for my life!”

Then when his daughter came down with an aggressive disease, “I thought God didn’t like me anymore,” Tony says. A days-long binge landed him in the hospital with guards at the door so he didn’t harm anyone with his 300-pound frame.

Not long after, a caring friend got him into the Mission’s Christ Recovery Center.

Thanks to people like you, Tony is a new man. He feels and looks healthy for the first time in a long time. And he’s got a great relationship with his parents and kids. This Christmas, he’s looking forward to starting some new traditions with his family.

“I can’t wait to see my parents and kids at Christmas this year,” Tony concludes. “I want to be their hero now. I was headed to death and God plucked me out of it and brought me here. I’m excited to see what He has planned for my life!”
